Is it worth it?
Is it worth it? I work for a chevy dealership and we just got a trade in...'98 Black Z28 with just a little over 100,000 miles. The car needs some work....driver side fender needs to be replaced...drivers door needs some fiberglass work (not much) and the passenger side fender needs some repair...and it needs a whole new paint job...none of these things would be a problem for me because I work in a body shop. The interior is pretty clean...just needs the bezel around the shifter, fuse cover and new visors. Like I said its a '98 with 100,000 miles hard top and bone stock...I can get it for $6,000. ?

I would not pay $6k for a car that old w/ 100k miles that "needs some work".
If you are looking for a DD, then find one with fewer miles that doesn't need any work.
If you are looking for a drag car, then buy a roller for far less than $6k.

lol, just last year my friend picked up his 98 m6 z28. Car had I think 80k miles, slp **** on it like headers and exhaust etc. He paid $6000 for that and its in great shape.. so ya dont bother.
An 11 year old car with over 100K miles that needs body work & a new
paint job is worth wholesale.

Private party, Fair Condition Value - $3,700
Retail Value - $6,275
(Not that it's worth anywhere near retail in the condition it's in!)
NADA Average Trade-In - $4,600
NADA Retail - $6,850
Note: I didn't add any options so the value may be a little higher.
If I was you I would print the sheets out with the values on them.
Tell them you want the car, but you want to pay a fair price. If they
don't want to come down any on the price find another car. They will
have to either fix the car & sale it for $6-7K or sale it for a lot less.

Answer: No its not worth what they want, tell them to pull up manhiem auction price on it bc that's whatd they'd give you if you were trading it in (just for ***** and grins, they obviously wont sell it to you at MAA price bc some poor sucker will come along and think its a deal bc some salesman told him so).
Especially considering its condition and miles... I just paid $6500 for my 99 Formula with 70K miles and a full exhaust and lid and its in very nice shape and didn't need anything...

My '98 Z28 6-speed w/ 90k miles, fully loaded, t-tops, leather, bolt-ons, great shape no problems whatsoever, very clean inside and out, cost me just over 6k.
