Definitely a good deal if its all mechanically sound.
I bought my 2005 GTO, red, 32K miles, M6 in november of 2008 for 14k From a dealer, still had a month left of warranty and only one owner, clean title. Tires were pretty used but still had easily a few thousand miles, and it had the ugly 17s so that was another negative(traded within 24 hours for some black ADRs, still ugly but less so and with almost brand new tires), but clean carfax.
I was looking for a 6.0 GTO for about half a year , (chose the clean title 05 over a 2006 38k 2006 BOM one that was M6 and had the 18s but had a rebuilt title from a front end collision with no frame damage pics and police report that i saw, but it also had SLP LTs, corsa sport and Kand N cold air, and at the time i didnt want a modded one plus it did have a salvage title, the guy wanted 13k for it but to me wasnt worth ther negatives) so to me it seemed like a decent price, but the insurance gace me a payout of a little over 20k after some lady decided her AWD infiniti could accelarate AND brake while turning just as good in the snow, car was declared a total loss before the warranty gave out.
Soon as i received the payment i went to buy a low mileage 2006 and in late january of 2009 i picked up my current 2006 M6 GTO, clean title, with 21k miles and a GM warranty till february 2010 also from a dealer for just under 17k. The price was rather high to me but i really did not have time to look as thouroughly and i didnt want to travel more then 100 miles to get one so i just picked up the one that appealed to me most locally. Have to say i wish i spent more time looking for my second one but we all make mistakes haha
If you are dead set on an 04 however look thru dealerships, and if you have a friend who works at a dealer have him search the auctions and you will be able to find an 04 with much much lower mileage for under 7-7.5k rather quickly or if you care to spend less then 15k you will have a lot of 2005 to 2006 ones to choose from as well, and a lot depends on if you are ok with buying a rebuilt one, then you could probably wait around for a substantially lower price but dealers hate dealing with rebuilt titles so it will be slim pickings and far and wide in between.
Good luck to you!
Haha this after years of "yea you beat me in a straight line but in the turns i get you good" should be interesting to see what it becomes
