Is a WS6 worth the extra $$$?

Is a WS6 worth the extra $$$?
I am looking to buy a 2000+ trans am here soon, and I was wondering if the WS6 upgrade is worth it? I figure I am going to put new exhaust and hood on it, so that eliminates both of those. Thoughts?

If you're going to change the hood and wheels, then no. Why pay for parts you don't want? Some people like the "exclusivity" of having a 'real' WS6, but if that doesn't matter to you, then you're just paying extra money for an emblem. And the way people mod these, the only things most real WS6's have left of the WS6 package is just the hood and the emblem anyway.
But if you DID want the hood and wheels, then it would most likely cost more to add them later on than it would just to buy a WS6, so in that case I would hold out for one.
You figure for the hood alone, you're looking at around 1k with paint, which is why my car will always run the stock hood. I don't have money to burn, I can't justify spending that kind of coin on a appearance item.
However, if you end up buying a NBM WS6, I call first dibs on the hood!!

If you're just talking about go fast, then no it's not worth the extra money. But I do love the way they look. My T/A is a non ws6 and I plan on getting a raptor hood if I ever have a spare 1k laying around (year right )

Oh yeah them gots that fast ws6 motor inem... Lol.. Truthfully man it's all in personal preference.. I'd say if you can find a decent priced one then do it.. But I wouldn't pay that much more for hood/rims.. But that's just my opinion.. You have to weigh your pros and cons.. Goodluck!

WS6 package is a MASSIVE waste of money in terms of performance. The only thing that makes it "perform" better are the 17" wheels, which can be added to any F-body. Otherwise, they don't make any more power and the suspension is the same as any other V8 F-body with the exception of a 32mm front sway bar.
WS6 package is something you should look for ONLY if you want the apperance.

As a former WS6 owner, I no longer feel that even the appearance was worth it. But I bought mine brand new, and paid an extra $3k for the "package". Only thing I kept from it was the hood. I could have done the hood separately for much less than $3k.
My tastes have changed though.... I'm completely converted to Camaros now.

^^^ Exactly. I bought a WS6 to have a WS6. I have no plans on modding it and keeping it completely stock. You said you where thinking about a new hood, so going after a WS6 would be a waste. No one would know unless you gave them the VIN to prove it. WS6 Rear-bumper Emblems can be bought and stuck on to give the appearance.

Thats the hood i really wanna get. It may be a tad over the top, but I saw one on the street around here in Raleigh and I'm hellbent now haha. Thank you guys so much, I am leaning against the WS6 and I may just badge it when I upgrade it, as totally dickish as that is.

If you are willing to go $12k you can get a much lower mileage car than one with 80-100K miles. Just be willing to travel and don't limit yourself to 'local' stuff. The cost to find something a few states away is nothing in the big picture of an important car purchase.
