2002 z28
Just looking to get some opinions on this. Im looking at this 02 pewter z28 close to where I live. The guy that is selling it is the original owner and has kept it in very good condition. It has grey leather interior no rips or tears in the seats or cracks in the dash interior is flawless and the body is straight. The car is sitting at 100000 miles and it is not his dd. The car is all stock besides the exhaust which is slp lm1. I have drove the car and it drives awesome with no grinds or anything. The lowest he will take is 9000 and I am really considering just giving him that. Thoughts?

18 months ago I bought off ebay a mint condition all stock, 73,000 miles z28 with ground effects and ttops for $5.000. With 100,000 miles you should pay no more than $8,000

First off, how do you amass 100k miles on a 9 year old car if you don't use it as a DD at least some of the time? Just curious because I have 21k miles on my non-DD T/A and I can't imagine having an additional 80,000 miles on it even if I took it across the country several times. His average yearly miles is over 10,000.
Second, the car has just reached the magic milestone (100k miles) of needed repairs no matter how well the car has been maintained. Things just start to go around this point, or soon after. Not always, but usually.
Third, he has it priced about $2,000 too high. www.kbb.com in my zip code shows this Z-28 to be in the $7,000 area in 'private party' good condition. The very good thing that I am hearing is that it is a one-owner and non-abused example. What is that worth? Definitely something but not $2,000, maybe an additonal $500 - $1,000 tops. You must keep in mind that you will need to sell this car one day and if a sale was needed quickly, it would be tough to get $7,000 for it. Picking up this car for $9,000 and then sinking $1,000 - $2,000 into it within the next year or two would leave you with a 100,000+ miles 10 year old car that you have laid out over $10,000 for with gas prices hovering possibly in the $4-$5 range. OUCH!!
Be careful and really think it through. Do not overpay in this current economy with spiking gas prices. It is a buyer's market. I know there are some really much lower mileage, well-maintained F-bodies out there that people are asking $10,000 - $11,000 for. You bring these sellers $9,000 cash or cashier's check and they will probably bite. Look at the much better car you will be getting for your $$. Good luck!!

Definitely looks like a pass. You can do much better. If nothing else, let the guy sit on the car for a while until he comes around to reality.
Too bad you aren't local to me or you could come look at my camaro. Little bit more money, but 1/5 the miles and I guarantee it's as clean.
