this dealership is selling a 1997 z28 with 165,000 miles for $4995. not worth buying a high mileage car though right?

Not at that price. This car will need things (repairs) most likely and you will have $6,000 - $7,000 into an LT1 car that will be difficult to sell in the future. If you could get the car for cheap, and you are able to fix things yourself, then maybe. A lot depends on the prior owners as well. Once in awhile a true highway miles, well maintained car appears. Still too much $$$ though. Could be a potential money pit which would become a nightmare to own.
