2001 Camaro Z28
88,000k
one small dent above LR tire
split in driver seat, console latch broken
t-tops (they don't leak)
comes with an LS1 that has 80k miles on it and may need to be rebuilt. short block we left in the rain.
what would you say this is worth?

forgot to add (can't edit post?)
tires in good shape, 50%+ tread
supposedly motor could be put back in without new rings or bearings, but advised it'd be safer to re-ring and put new bearings in it
it needs:
t56 transmission
clutch
pressure plate
flywheel
slave cylinder
asking price is $2800.
what do you guys think? this will be my first f-body.
thanks

For a first F-body ownership experience I would PASS on this car. It needs way too much and could lead to complete aggravation and unhappiness. Do you realize you can get a 'fair' condition (maybe even a 'good' condition) 2000-2001 Camaro Z28 with 80,000 miles on it for around $6,000 - $7,000 with cash in hand?? Remember that asking prices are just that, asking prices. If you see an ad for $8,000, trust me, if you like the car, you can leave with that car for $7,000 with cash in hand. Not many sellers would let you walk in these tough times. Hardly seems worth the effort to re-build the car you are talking about for the same money when all is said and done. Whatever your decision, good luck!

I can't seem to find one for that price anywhere... There's one local for $7680 with 130k miles on it. The troubles and headaches aren't a concern. It's the money aspect. I figured $600 to rebuild, $1000 for a T56, and $600 for a clutch and flywheel. That'd put me at $5,000 for a Z28 with 88k miles and rebuilt engine).

Man I'd keep lookin..
I bought my running 2000 z28, 125k miles, for $4500.
now given.. I've put probably $5k into it in repairs so far and it's not the best running car.. but I drive it every day and it's getting 20mpg in my commute.. with the a/c blowing cold on my face..
keep lookin, they're out there for a good price.
