Good Deal? newbie question I had a couple questions I was hoping someone could help me with. I have a 1965 Olds 88 2dr hardtop that I was looking to swap a modern, more reliable, better HP engine into..I know someone willing to sell me a vortec 6.0 motor out of his wrecked 2002 GMC sierra 2500HD with 100,000k on it for $1000 thats complete from intake to oil pan, harness, alternator, ac comp, etc...
My questions are number one, is this a good deal?
number two, I'm pretty sure this is the LQ4 motor..since I'll probably be having this broken down and rebuilt, what are some good upgrades to get it around 400HP? cam? intake?
any help would be appreciated

I would say thats a pretty good deal since youre getting everything with it. As long as youre going to refresh it with at least new rings and bearings. And for the power goals youre looking for I would go with a full exhaust setup, a large intake, and a good streetable cam.

Yep a very good deal. Go with a custom grind cam youll need plenty of torque to get that beast moving. Like most big cars from the 60s its probbaly got tall gears. My 65 big pontiac has 2.73s i believe. Less gear needs more low end torque to be fast. And more enjoyable as a street car.
