What I'm saying is: to pay $7000+ for that car is utterly hilarious. I'm saying he can offer $4,000 and get a rebuild and have basically a brand new engine and a nice car for less than $7,000....if he makes a good deal....

And yes, the engine can be junk.....nobody knows what kind of life its had. Might have been sprayed, ragged on, not taken care of with oil changes worth a damn, etc.....

Any kind of car can have a junk engine at 175K.........

Yea i understand where you coming from brother, thats why its coming up to saturday and il be test driving it and hearing what it sounds like under the hood and all that. is there any other things i should look/hear for when by the car? thanks for the great advice. Also the car looks like it was garage kept so assuming that, and in very good condition outside and in. is that the person took care of it. and with the high milage is just cause it was a 99 and driven daily.

AmericaFTW, I buy a lot of cars and resell them after I get bored of it. If I can give you a pointer, I'd say don't rush buying cars if you plan to keep. Almost always after I buy a car, a equavilent or better deal pops up days after. If you really like the car and have no regrets, go for it. Afterall it is your car and your investment. When I buy a used car, I ask myself if I can resell it for the same value, if not more in the near future. If I think I can, I buy it. Good luck!

I'm with those who have said, try to get it for $4,000-$4,500, then pay the additional money that you've saved and rebuild the engine and transmission. Then for about the same price as what it's being offered now, you'll have a great working (hopefully) LS1 WS6! Nothin' wrong with that!

Also, the z28 with 190k miles I had; it leaked oil from the oil pan gasket and possibly the rear main seal. I still bought It because it ran exceptionally well. I sold it because it was an a4 and I wanted a m6. And yes the new owner knew about the leak before buying. I bought my current 02 z28 110k freeway miles for $5800 and it had new clutch, brakes, tires, spark plugs, wires, lid and bellow.

Nice buy! and that's why I will be test driving it and looking over the car VERY VERY hard. I get what you mean by when u buy a car or anything, after buying a new better deal comes along but that's whenever yo buy. So i will see this Saturday and see if they will go down that low, if not my search continues for a F body!!!! thanks

I just bought a 2001 Triple Black Trans Am convertible. The car was a 1 owner 51 year old female that drove it 80 miles each way to work (night shift at a casino), and was garaged its whole life. It was immaculate and dealer maintained from day 1. It had 180K on it and looks like a 20K car. She cranked it up to go to work and the engine blew up.......due to leaking injectors. I bought a short block that had scarring, so I bought another to go through completely. 750 for the removal and install, $1000 for the 2 short blocks and another $750 for the rebuild kit and timing chain/cam bearings, plus $250 for putting it together.............$2750 in putting a motor in the car with 5000 more miles than that one, and I guarantee its nicer....................I highly suggest that you stay away........unless you have a $3000 and a spare car, because they are good for 200K, and then you are on borrowed time

imo i wouldn't pay penny more then $4000.if your budget is not an big issue then i would look for something better.i talked down the dealership from $6500 to final price out the door $5300..and it had cam, headers, exhaust, dyno tuned,4.10 rear and clean interior..so just be carefully.and inspect the **** out of it.lol

well Im deciding to not get it, I test drove it and it was nice some things wrong here and there but drove real nice. But then last night my friend blew up his rear end in his camaro ss so i guess the stock rears arent that strong so with 175k that rear is about to go. So now im putting all my attention on my dream car(69 nova SS) in VERY good condition 82k miles and restored to a very nice point. They only want 10k for it is that good? i test drove it and fell in love instantly.
