Default LS1 Camaro question

ok I am planning on purchasing this Camaro

It's a Manual 2001 LS1 Z28 with 45,000 miles. CLEAN carfax, originally owned in Cali.

The only flaws that i can see is
1.the front fender (drivers side) at the bottom where it meets the door hinge looks like it is pushed out, i heard its a common problem and all of the other body lines match up so its not structural and it is hardly noticeable. my guess is its something stupid like putting a jack under there and crushing the underside a little to have it stick out that 1/8"
2. small ding behind the gas door
3.front tires are the same and rear two tires are different (3 total different tires) looks like someone may have roasted off the rears and someone bought tires from a used tire store that didnt match to get it sold.

all of them dont really concern me especially because its only got 45k. besides looking further into that fender im not worried, like i said CLEAN carfax. granted that doesnt mean they didnt report something minor.

im hopefully picking it up this saturday if all goes well, i have the loan already and the time off. (10 hour drive)

my question is, is this fender "flaring" issue common or is it something more serious or is it just cosmetic? i hope you can see what im talking about from the pictures

thanks

Doesn't look like a problem at all. I would look all around the fender to check for paint or bondo. Then if it all checks out I would not worry at all.

Looks very clean... Good luck!

That's a very common problem, someone probably went to jack it up and put it on the fender tabs. Go to this. https://ls1tech.com/forums/paint-bod...alignment.html Look at my pictures on post 11. Its very easy. That's a great looking, low mileage Camaro, good luck.

thanks! yeah i wasnt thinking it was anything other than cosmetic but you never know, just wanted to run it past some of the most knowledgeable people on camaros.

i cant wait to park this puppy in my driveway and call it mine. i wasnt so worried because its such a low mileage car so ive already got a loan and everything pending on my trip down there.

coming from a 09 cobalt ss turbo with 310whp and 383wtq it will be nice change with rwd and one more gear to shift into. i know how to handle rwd so it will be like riding a bike haha

again thanks i thought it was a great find especially for 8k

They definitely look cloudy to me, I'm looking at the right one in the second pic and it looks pretty hazy, not a big deal though, it happens. Mines were yellow when I first took delivery of my car, they're not perfect now but they're x100 better, not a hard process to restore them.

Car looks good man, my SS still has the common bent fender flange, haven't had a chance to fix it yet

Nice! I paid about that for mine with 12k miles more and it's a 98. (didn't have the luxury of time to find a steal bc I needed a daily driver.) looks like a solid deal

I actually called on this car a few months back when I was looking for a camaro. Its at some small dealership or he just buys and sells cars, but the guy told me he just want that thing gone, so you could probably get it for a good deal. Its been for sale for a good while and they keep bringing the price down every month or two. He usually doesn't mess with camaro's I think he usually does high end Cobra's and Corvettes. If they want 8K out of it I can bet you could get it for a least $7,500 or less... Good deal, I would have went to look at it but It was a little out of my price range.

He told me the same thing when he wanted no less then $8,995.. I just didnt have that much so i didnt bother goin to look at it... So pull out some cash and I bet money he will take less for how long it's been for sale, I'm pretty sure he started at around 10k for it like 6-8 months ago!!!

Car looks pretty good in the photos. However, if the headlights are hazy (could be reflection/flash in the pics ??) it is a sign that the car has sat outside a good bit. For instance, my '99 Z28 still has nearly perfect original headlights because it sits in the garage at home and gets driven straight to the parking garage at work... so it never sits outside much at all and the headlights are still crystal clear.

That doesn't mean anything I do Headlight Restorations and I've done them on cars that are only a year or 2 old. Just about every Camaro does that, actually chevy in general is bad about it. Looking at pictures doesn't do justice anyways, go look at it and drive it. Everything is different in person but those are some low *** miles for that price so take that into consideration....

Beg to differ. It most definitely means something. Currently have 5 LS1 Camaros sitting here and have owned 3 others. Those that sat outside (previous owners, I keep all of mine indoors) had hazy headlights. Those that I've owned since nearly new or had come from owners that kept them religiously garaged = clear headlights.

No, not "every Camaro does that". I could show you my '98 and '99. Both cars' headlights are 99% clear despite their age and I have not had to treat them like I treated two previous cars that were not regularly garaged. Not saying that GM did a good job, in fact they didn't. The headlights should have held up better. But if kept indoors and kept clean (and relatively low mileage) the headlights can look nearly new for many, many years. Mileage is a factor too. High mileage Camaros that have seen a lot of highway travel will pick up more of the pitting and yellowing from the subtle "sandblast" effect of all the highway travel. If you really had to treat Camaros when they were two years old, their owners had to drive a ton of miles and keep them outside.
