Default Trade difference?

Hey guys, I have a '00 Artic White WS6, M6 75K miles...bone stock except a Hooker CB and MGW shifter. I ran into a local guy w/ a '01 SOM WS6 M6, stock except a Pro 5.0 shifter and Flowmaster CB. His has 55K miles. Both have the ebony interior. We're both 2nd owners. We got to talking and checking out each other's cars and the cars are both in VGC, no rips, tears or cracked panels. A few normal rock chips in the front. No dings, dents or rust...really the cars are identical except for the color. Everything works as it should on both. So he mentions that he had a white WS6 years ago he bought new then got a divorce and had to give it up and wanted another but couldn't find a nice white one so got the SOM...I've always loved SOM (just sold my SOM Silverado I owned for 9 years) so we talk about possibly trading. He wants 3K on top of my car. My question is, with his being newer, less miles and a more desireable color (he mentioned how many were built lol)), is 3k a reasonable amount? I know the SOM cars bring more $$, but 3K seems steep to me, and I really don't dislike my car enough to spend that much. I know I'd have to add $$, but what's the real $$ diff. between the 2?

He's pretty close in wanting that $3,000. Price guides will show about a $2,000 - $2,500 difference due to the miles and the one year difference. The SOM can add value but that is a personal decision for you to make. Is SOM worth $500- $1,000?? Everyone will have a different opinion.
The main thing is to make sure your cars are truly 'equal'. Has maintenance been done properly? Do the cars need tires or anything that would cost immediate money out of either pocket?? Are you certain the Carfax is clear on his car and he is being honest? Don't rush into anything and if he starts acting annoyed or doesn't want to provide info, then there might be a problem.

Both cars have GY F1s @80%...the carfax on mine is clear, he says his is too, I'd have to verify. The cars are truly in the same condition, his appears to be very well maintained as mine is...we're both a little older as were both original owners so the cars haven't been abused. Both cars are in winter storage so we agreed to wait until spring to try and make a deal...I'll hit him low and go from there.

I'm already impressed that you both went with the expensive Goodyears. That indicates that neither of you is cheap and probably did put some money into maintenance. Like you said, make an offer once you're comfortable with it and see what happens this Spring. Good luck!
