I bought a 98 Z28 to pull the motor and harness out of it. Then I found another motor and harness so I really didn't need to trash the 98. I got a 99 LS1 for $375 and put a grand in it and its brand spankin new.

Now, I do paint and body work for fun and the clear is trashed so for giggles I will re-shoot it and straighten it out. VFN hood, skirts and I will lower it. I have a set of mesh wheels and tires I picked up for $500 and although I really dont like 19s, these will look good if the car is low enough. My buddy is rebuilding the 4L60 on the cheap.

So, all said and done I will have $4200 in the car plus my labor plus paint so lets call it $4500. What can I get for a 98 Z28 maybe $6500 considering its all new? I build some really nice stuff and it always sells but man I don't think my time is worth $2k. Maybe it will be worth more than $6500?

I guess at the end of the day I can say I saved a Camaro from the junkyard (which is where it was headed). Sometimes I don't know why I do this stuff. You guys are pretty critical... what would you do? I do enjoy it but have abillion other project I can be working on. Maybe I just can't stand to see a savable car go to scrap.

 

If it is in good shape it will be worth quite a bit more than $6500 come spring time.

 

That's probably a good point. I usually sell stuff I build on the cheap side to help out a kid or get someone into a cool car.
