5.3L for $300?
5.3L for $300? Hey everyone. I discussed an LS1 swap the other day with some people, and they suggested going the 5.3 or 6.0 route instead. ('90 K1500)
I went by the local junk yard and priced both setups.
$2800
6.0 - Motor, Transmission, transfer case, wire harness, and ECM
$2450
5.3 - Motor, Transmission, transfer case, wire harness
Then I started looking around on Craigslist for options. I found a 5.3L pulled from an '02 Tahoe for $300, with a blown main bearing. The motor comes complete, but obviously needs rebuilt with the current situation.
Is $300 a worthy investment for this motor? It is an iron block, with aluminum heads.
