Default 2000 SS low miles

2000 Camaro SS
58k miles
6spd
SLP options from the factory, SLP Loudmouth exhaust, SLP lid, clean K&N air filter, SLP mats, Hurst equipped, LoJack equipped!, T-tops with covers, 15% tint all the way around, drilled and slotted rotors, hard ceramic brake pads.

Asking 15500, I was able to get him down to 14k. Car is about an hour and a half from me, but I feel like 14k is still too much for a 13yr old car. Thoughts? Thanks for any advice.

$15,500 is about $5000 over book. You can get into a C5 'vette for that much.

That's exactly what I told the seller, both about it being 5k over book and that i could get a c5 z06 for a few grand more. I told him i could go 11 which is KBB and we all know KBB is usually if not always high. What would be a realistic offer given the market? I know there are a few on the forum with similar miles for around 13-15 or have been i should say. And do ws6's demand more $$? Thanks again.

I'm glad you are not overpaying for these cars you are looking at. If KBB states $11,000 I would not pay more than that, not with this owner having the car for such a short time. It sounds like he had fun with it for a year and now is 'flipping it'.
Yes, WS6 models do sell for more, as long as they are real WS6 cars and not clones.
Try to expand your search a bit if possible, right down into FL, west to Atlanta and north to VA. If you can't spare a weekend, then so be it. I've never found cars local to me. It is worth the effort to travel to find that right car. My GT/CS I picked up two years ago was up near Washington DC, exactly 500 miles away. My SS was up in Pittsburgh, PA. Both were worth every cent of gas money, fast food, and one night in a motel. Many phone calls, photos, Carfax, etc all done ahead of the trip, so you don't waste your time.

It's beginning to look like that's what I'm going to have to do. Really mind boggling how people come up with these prices, esp since they are at least 11yrs old. Thanks for all the help.

As was suggested above, expand your search area if it is feasible. For example, a quick search of my local market brought up a 2000 SS with 24,000 miles on it with an asking price of $14,900, another 2000 SS with 36,000 on it for $14,999, and a 1998 Z28 with one owner and 46,250 miles for $8500. If travelling is not feasible, you could consider ordering an independent inspection and have the car shipped to you and still get a good deal.

The owner explained that 15500 was market value and that kbb was not the true value of the car. I'm not sure what market is bringing that kind of price for this car.

He's just looking for a fool. Don't even talk to him anymore. Even a dealership couldn't get that kind of $$. The car is a nearly 60,000 miles 13 year old 'used' car. He has nothing going for him with this car. Nothing! He'll be sitting on it for an eternity or until a sucker comes along. There is a 'new' LS1 2002 Camaro Z28 in FL with under 1,300 miles in this month's issue of Hemmings and the owner is asking $16,900. Tell me how these two cars are even remotely close. It's ridiculous!!

Does the hugger orange ss with black stripes demand any type of mark up? There is a 99 a few hrs from me with 75k miles and the asking price is 13500. Book on it is under 9grand. Owner has all receipts on maintenance, super clean with torque thrust wheels.

Maybe a little mark up or premium to an individual that really desires that color. I wouldn't pay much more than $500 though over a price guide value, not for a car with 75k miles. If it was a 10,000 miles 'mint' car, and I absolutely wanted that color, I might pay over $1,000 extra. It would be worth it.
As far as that '99 SS value, yeah, once again, much too high. Use that comparison test about the 'new' 2002 Z28 I mentioned in the last post. Which car would you want for almost the same money??
