Default 02 SS NBM only 48K miles

Hey guys!

May be looking to offload my most recent LS1 purchase due to various reasons. It is a 2002 35th anniversary loaded NBM SS. Only has 48K miles, I got it from the original owner. Interior is perfect tan leather. Has the T-Top Shades and even came with the SLP car cover. It is the factory CME exhaust tips, but long tubes, High flow cats, etc. Over $20K in receipts from work done to it and it still runs perfectly as a daily driver. And when I mean receipts, I mean email correspondence from original owner to the shop that did all the work, as well as all paid receipts for parts and labor and Dyno sheets. Put down 381RWHP through the auto and stall. CNC ported LS6 heads, springs, retainers and all. Small Comp cam. Full suspension package, small stall, tuned. It's pretty much clean as heck.

What are your thoughts on a good asking price? I went out of state to buy it since the LS1's still hold a good price tag here in Texas for a really nice low mileage one.

11k id say. Is that 20k include labor or just parts. I always tell ppl you can't put what it cost to do those things into a cars asking price.

Being a recent purchase, it's probably worth about what you ended up paying for it, especially if you bought from a private party. If it were a stock 48K mile CME vehicle I'd figure it around the $12K to $13K range. The mods are probably worth a little premium, maybe 10-15% of that $20K ($2K to $3K). Considering you can probably buy a mint/stock 2002 A4 with 10K miles for around $16K, it's hard to say that a 48K mile modified one is worth the same.

$20K seems like a lot of money to only get 381 RWHP. The limited production GMMG cars are well underrated at 380 hp and you can probably buy a 48K mile SS for around $18K. Where yours falls inside that $12K to $16K range depends on how nice an overall performance package the car is. I think $14K would be strong money. A formerly 1 owner car that is being sold by the 2nd owner shortly after purchase might set off some flags to potential buyers. It would at least be a concern.

Thanks guys!

I mentioned the value of the receipts more so to just say I have all documentation for the car than to boast about value. The previous owner was an older gentlemen and the mods were definitely done at a good shop with all intentions to keep the car as driveable daily as possible while adding some power and handling.

The market here locally still gets good prices on nice LS1's. A decently stock LS1 with low mileage is easily going to cost you over $14K here, some up towards $20. If I list it I'll go a tad over askign and wiggle back down for a serious buyer. The good thing about having title in hand and no need to sell is you will eventually get what you want out of it since there is no rush to sell.

I appreciate the insight, and it's on track with what I was thinking. Thanks!

I'd be a little surprised if Texas has really strong prices compared to other places. If that were really the case, then every good car in surrounding states where prices were weaker would eventually migrate towards Texas, fulfilling Texans' needs for low mileage LS-1's. You'd have Texas car dealers loading up multi-car carriers and doing sweeps of the southern states to bring in the goods to Texas. And private buyers could buy a $100-$200 plane ticket, and drive their new car home from a nearby state all for probably less than $300-$500.

It's nice to have a title and be in no rush to sell. But whether the car ever sells or not is pretty much determined on the what price is requested. I see a lot of cars with high asking prices that have been on the market for 1-3 years now. Until the owners get more motivated and drop their prices, their cars are staying home. Price you car to the lower 15-20% of all asking prices in your region, and it will probably sell in a reasonable time frame. Anything higher, and it probably lingers for as long as the price remains unchanged.

Here's a 1 owner, silver 1999 SS A4 in the Autotrader with 9K miles and a $13.5K asking price. Looks like a very nice car. I thought it would sell immediately at $13K or higher. Been up for approx 6 months or more now...nearly 2500 views. Clearly, the $13K level is not getting it done for whatever reason. The owner is no doubt patiently waiting, it's almost the winter season again, and nothing is happening. Next year it will be worth a little less.

Here's a 2000 SS with 28K miles in Calif with a price of $10,500.

I have to admit, I was intrigued if Texas cars are considerably stronger priced than elsewhere. So I picked Brady, Texas as the center of the state, and did a 500 mile radius search on Autotrader to include all of Texas. For the most part, the prices are pretty strong, quite a few at the "insane" level. No idea if they actually sell anywhere near these levels though. But there are a half dozen or so fair or good deals out of the 32 cars. A couple of less than 35K mile LS-1's were under $10,000.

One car stood out on this list, a 2002 SS LE anniversary (red with stripes) M6 with 44K miles and asking price of $12,500 out of Odessa, TX (adult owned, garaged, stock). Still has the factory air lid on it. That sounds like a very fair deal. I'd be tempted to go look at that myself. Hasn't been advertised that long. Other than some slight fading on the head light lenses and also a scratch on one, seems pretty clean. And with 614 views, some of them no doubt from Texas, why isn't this Anniv LE M6 sold already at this price? Where are those Texas buyers? It will be interesting to see how long this car remains unsold. It's probably easier to find this car with 15K miles vs. 45K.

Id say 12-14k. No way are there 20k in receipts for parts and labor for that hp output.
