Whats it worth Hi Guys I'm new here and have a question. I picked up what I thought was gonna be a parts car. Its a 99 trans am dark metallic blue automatic with traction control and 323 gears. Upon further inspection I decided to see if I could make run. there was a small electrical fire by the abs module. so I cut out the bad stuff taped the wires up so nothing would short dropped a battery in it and it started right up turns out the car only has 44.000 miles looks like its had paint work but the car is straight and very presentable. I pulled a history report due to rebuilt title and it appears it got that way with 36 miles on it. I am the third owner. interior is near new everything works as it should. What do you guys think would be a fair price to ask for it?

Since there's no dark metallic blue for 1999 I assume you mean Navy Blue Metallic. Anything more than you have into it would be a good price. Hard to evaluate a repainted and repaired/rebuilt title car with an electrical issue from this far away. If the car were a stock 44K miles w/o these problems, it would probably be worth $9K-$10K. Could be worth nearly as much in parts as it is a functioning car....$4K-$6K? If it was considered totaled with only 36 original miles on it, it must have been a lot of damage since the car was worth $20K-$25K at that time. A gambler's special. Must have not had loving owners if they couldn't even figure out how to get it started again. I hoped they changed the oil once in a while.

Yes navy blue metallic no more electrical issues. the car was being stored covered on a carport. there was a rats nest they must have nibbled wires and when they turned key it shorted near abs I have a new harness and module on its way. it was still dealership car when totaled. I had car checked no body or frame damage I was told air bags deployed and that's why totaled everything in engine looks new and unmolested fluids all look fresh. I only gave 1500 for the car. like I said was gonna be parts car for my 2000 trans am but I don't want to take another one off the road. I was just curious what I should ask for it.

Holy carp. That sure is a mint interior...and mint engine bay for 44K miles. Looks every bit as sharp as the one owner 2002 silver A4 TA I test drove back in 2012 (48K miles and priced at $11,500). Crazy that for a pair of airbags it was totaled. Someone just might enjoy buying and driving that car for another 75K miles. Maybe saying $4K-$6K I understated it. It looks like a $9K to $10K car. If it drives like one and there is zero sign of front end, body damage, then why not $6K or $7K? The only draw back is the rebuilt title which could be a 30-40% deduction.
Where's the paint work and why do you think it was done? If there was no damage when the air bags were set off, why bother with paint work. If someone kept that engine bay and interior that pristine, they would have been just as careful with the body. That's a budget priced driver for someone.

I would think someone would take the chance on this car at $5k. It looks too nice and may have years of life ahead of it. I'm not a fan of 'bad title' cars but there always exceptions. This may be one of them.
