Default 1998 Z28 Needing Advice

*Newbie disclaimer: I read all the sticky's and creeped (crept?) on several other similar posts before posting. I know I'm not looking to get out what I have in, I just want a fair place to start.

I'm putting my 98 z28 up for sale this weekend and was looking to get some advice. The car is truly turnkey. 101k miles. I just see so many junk Camaros for sale around me I have no frame of reference. There's one similar Camaro for sale in my area for $9900 but has 147k miles and half the upgrades.

NADA guides has it anywhere from $5100-$8000.
KBB has it anywhere from $3272-4255 (Very Good)
Edmunds: $8151 Private Party
Edmunds: $12,048 Dealer Retail

Below is a list of upgrades:

2 owner low mileage Z28 w/ rare Y3F Sport Appearance Package
Futral Motorsports F15 Cam w/ 596 lift
Ported and Polished Heads
Ported and Polished Throttle Body
LS6 intake
LS6 fuel rails
LS6 oil pump
LS6 Meziere Electric Water Pump
Evans Waterless coolant conversion (watch jay lenos garage on Evans Coolant, it sold me)
Racetronix 255LPH Turbine Fuel Pump
Hooker Long Tube Headers
Hooker Y-Pipe with Flowmaster Mufflers
Electric exhaust cutout with switch on the console (stupid loud with nice cam lope)
Fully Functional WS6 Trans Am Style Ram Air Hood (Ultra-lite Fiberglass)
Blackbird Lighting BI-xenon projector headlights
18" Chrome C5 Corvette 5 spoke wheels w/ Nitto Street drags
Brand new Top King Headliner Oct 2017
Brand New Battery 2017
9/10 interior being a garage queen, no rips, tears or cracks in the leather. No cracks in dash.
Brand new A4 4L60E Transmission stage 2 transgo shift kit paired w/ a Yank 3600 Stall (a dream to drive) with paperwork
Fresh Amsoil Oil change
4 new rotors and 4 new calipers with pads
professionally dyno'd 454rwhp

Im probably forgetting something and these pics don't do it justice but hopefully you can look past the dirt!

Hard to nail down value on a car with so many modifications, especially significant ones of the cosmetic variety; some will love them and some will hate them. The Sport Appearance Package, although stock, is also a pretty polarizing option, with many 4th gen shoppers disliking and frequently removing it. The hood/spoiler/headlights will be a turn off to some shoppers, so you'll have to take that into account if you're looking for a quick sale.

Having said that, the performance modifications and power level will likely appeal to many shoppers but, as you mentioned, you'll only get a fraction of what you invested back out of such.

Unless the car has only a few thousand careful miles since assembly or nut-and-bolt restoration, it's definitely not perfect. I think many folks mistakenly use this word to describe a car that's nicer than many of the other examples they see for sale, but that doesn't make a car perfect. It's best to be as accurate and honest as possible about your description to avoid wasted time (yours and potential buyers) by over-hyping condition with words like "perfect", IMO.

A '98 Z28 with only mild upgrades and 147k miles is worth about half of that asking price. Unless that seller is willing to budge, the car will be for sale until the end of time - especially if it's an A4 like yours (autos are always less popular, therefore have a bit less value.)

What is the mileage of yours? And I'm assuming the title is clean?

Very few A4 Z28s will sell for over $10k, and those that do will typically be very low mileage. If you are at/above/near the 6-figure mileage range, even with those impressive dyno numbers, it will be hard to get into the 5-figure dollar range IMO - and doing so would also require finding a buyer who appreciates the cosmetic modifications (stock appearance is usually easier to sell since it appeals to a broader audience.)

Default Great info

Thanks for the info! I know it’s not perfect I just meant it needs nothing. 101k miles. I was thinking about listing it for 10k and go from there. I think I would take 8000 albeit reluctantly knowing the actual investment amount is closer to double that.

Thanks again!

(I’m sure the other camaro guy will be pissed about my ad for a nicer lower mileage camaro for only $100 more...lol)
