Default Whats the differance

I was recently shoping for some rims, and i kept seeing FWD for some and RWD for some. I didnt understand the differance expecially since you could get them in a 5x4.75 lug pattern. Does anyone know what the differance is?

Im not 100% sure but I think it has to do with the offset? Most places that sell the wheels say that from XXX offset down is for fwd and from XXX offset up is for rwd.. I could be way off though.

Homerun, you got it. FWD are usually always positive offset (wheel center in the front half of the rim) while RWD are usually always negative offset (wheel center in the back half of the rim shell.)

In general positive offsets were fro a FWD car . . . negative offsets typically for RWD car . .

Today that rule does not apply, since current F-Cars use positive offset wheels.
