What are the biggest tires i can put on some stock ls1's????

From the info I got from this sticky, it looks like the max you can run would be a 245 on a stock 16X8 wheel.

What stock wheels???? Assuming stock overall diameter of tires, and using street tires:

Z28 / Firebird / Trans Am?? 16" x 8" widest is a 255/50R16

SS / WS6??? 17" x 9" widest is a 285/40R17

Anybody else tell you different, is exceeding the recommend specifications of the tire manufacturer

Are 215/60/16's too narrow to run on the stock 16X8 rims? The reason I ask is because those are the size of my winter tires.
