Default SS wheels 17x?

I have a set of SS wheels on a car I just bought. What width are they? I need tires and read on another thread that a 315 tire would not fit a 17x9 wheel. I still have the old tires on and its hard to tell. They are the 10 spoke type.
thanks Lee

They'd be 17x9 I believe. I've seen 315 Nitto DR's on 17x9's a few times. They'll work just fine. But, people say that the Nitto 315's are not quite as wide as most 315's.

they are visably smaller tho, ive had both the 555r and GS-D3 side by side and the nitto was smaller.

So? . . . Whats your point? . . . READ NITTO'S WEBSITE!

Only an ignorant moron would force a 315/35R17 onto a 17" x 9" wide wheel . .

A square peg WILL fit in a round hole . . . you just need a big enough hammer.

Remember, tread width and mounting width are NOT the same thing. The Nitto NT555R has more squared shoulders than the Goodyear GSD3, but the contact patch/tread width is 315mm on both. Just because the overall tire is narrower doesn't mean the tire isn't a "true" 315.

In both cases, the inner bead (where it mounts to the wheel) is intended for a minimum 10.5" wide wheel. Just because a lot of people do it doesn't make it a good idea.

thats just what they recomend for liability reasons, ive been workin for goodyear for too long now and know that you can put a 315 on a 9" rim, yea it is not the safest thing in the world but alot of the stuff we do too our cars isnt, and not once have I ever had a problem or heard of someone having a problem. And the tire actully goes on pretty easy, no forceing whatsoever.

I dont think thats right either. 315 doesn't refer to the tread width, that is the sectoin width of the tire. Which would be the width at the sidewall. Tread widths will change depending on the tire make.
