Not saying anything bad about their products, they are very nice looking. Asside from the bolt-on centercaps, they look similar to our Welded RT wheel. I’m not here to debate. Give Burkhart Chassis a call if you need help with your Billet Specialty Wheels, they are a good bunch of guys over there.

The problem is they are similar to our street/strip billet 2 piece designs whereas the fronts are not a direct fit and cannot be made to tuck as well as most other drag setups. This is a typical problem with a 1 piece barrel design. If you've changed your calipers/rotors to aftermarket i.e. hawk etc, you're problems are amplified.

All street/strip setups are rather heavy. This will correlate into slower 60ft times, longer braking distances etc. It's a hard pill to swallow asking someone to spend over 1100.00 on a set of our street/strip wheels when you can purchase a set of jegs/summit street/strip wheels for 400.00 and have the same performance gains. Granted they don't look as nice as our or other street/strip billet wheels.

...When you’re spending that kind of money to have a rear wheel for example being 70% heavier than our typical Bogart drag wheel correlates into literally a minimum of 50 converted lbs of mass JUST for two rear wheels. Though mass is moved inward, it’s realistically not too far off from stock rear wheel (a few lbs from it...certainly way on the other extreme of being closer to a true drag wheel. Using a lighter wheel like ours drag series or other light wheels would be like adding a 50-75 shot of nitrous to your car (without the added stress on the engine and drivetrain).

These weight differences are not small and are measureable. They can and do make a difference in performance. In the end though, it is what the user is looking to do.

Billet Specialties have SFI approval and can be driven on the street without fear of failure. NO grinding required.

Please don't start the SFI discussion again. This has nothing to do with streetability. I've discussed this with you previously of which you apparantly do not like to believe. Other companies have SFI certs as well which are in no way a street wheel and in no way would ever be street worthy, take an alumastar 2.0 SFI certified. According to your standards since it passes SFI certs, it's a street wheel too...street wheel no way!!

You want a street strip wheel if you're worried about failure summit prostars, jegs prostars, most other street/strip wheels including our street/strip wheels will all fit the bill. This is because they are designed for street and strip BUT you give up performance enhancements which is quite a bit. Some people purchase a k-member to save just 35lbs...which btw does not have any certifications. They mistakenly may overlook the fact they may be using a wheel that more than negates weight benefits of the k-member they purchased. A stock k-member is more durable then just about any aftermarket k-member out there...though the reason most get them is for performance benefits.

They just as ours are NOT a direct fit for front/rear wheels. A street/strip wheel is nothing near a drag wheel. You may have had a set fit without issues but your calipers may not be typical as well as your brake pads may have been old or worn. This still does not correct the front backspace concern that the 2 piece wheels have. Remember, we've been making them for many years. If you like the BS wheels, then that is all which matters. In fact for folks who like street/strip wheels and want billet style, I'd suggest going with BS wheels. Give Burkhart a call, he'll be happy to assist you. Midwest Chassis also offers them on here as well and has a very good reputation.

Witry, I just reread your goals. I'd be careful with choosing only a rear drag wheel. Do not use a bias ply tire with those stock wheels up front. Drivability at top-end will become unpredictable. If funds are tight for you, you would be best off choosing a weld prostar or draglite as they would be the next lightest wheel that can be made to work on your car. Personally, if you're looking to shave easily up to 2 tenths off your 1/4, the best way would be considering a full set of drag wheels. Our Bogarts will be the lightest setup by far and will leave you with no headaches regarding fitment. Rear wheels do not receive stress like a front runner does...so pick your poison. Rarely ever do people brake rear wheels drag or other.

Good luck!

Steve i didn't read your response to the SFI remark, as i've heard it plenty of times before in other threads i get tired of hearing about SFI ratings and "street driven" track wheels people don't learn, and for every one that does, there's 10 more that pop up just as ignorant as the first.

suffice it to say, i have a good idea of what i want in a wheel for my car. i've got the iForged Aero's for the street. i want something...different...for the track. i'll hit you up when i'm ready.

oh and btw, i've got your linelock/ABS delete kit, it looks awsome.

You're welcome guys. 2000_SS, thank you for your comments and purchase, I'm happy you're satisified with our other components as well.

I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea about my comments. I try to help folks on here make choices based on factual information. Our products are not for everyone, there obviously are other choices that may fit someones goals. What I don't like to see is someone purchase a product when they may be purchasing them under false conceptions.

IWGF, thank you as well for your comment. The prostars/draglite combo in my opinion are a good "bang for the buck" option. Not too long ago, you could pick up a set for 6-700.00 which was an incredible low price. Those prices are gone now. As with all products, there's a give a take to consider.

WRONG.

Prostars are a good budget wheel, but require a good amount of grinding on the brake calipar to fit. More than I feel comfortable with. As soon as my drivetrain and tune is done on my car, my prostars are going up forsale, and I'm going with a set of Bogarts. Not only can they be built to fit over stock brakes, their lighter than any other wheel that clears stock brakes.

FYI Bogarts are the ONLY company who offers a direct bolt on FRONT AND REAR wheel with the CORRECT backspace/offset.

Camaro396, I don't know what you are smoking but Prostars have nothing to do with Billet Specialties wheels. Billet Specialties Street Lites in a 15x10 7.5" backspace fit
with zero grinding. In fact the tire shop that put on on my Hoosiers put the stick on weights right above the calipers on the wheel, NO CONTACT.

Street Lite wheels for the fitment, quality, and price are a no brainer. Check them out, I think you will agree. Paying ~$400 /wheel elsewhere is nuts.

I'm not smoking anything. It's called reading. Can you go over the OP's first few posts and tell me what you see? I see him saying he is going with a set of Weld wheels? Please correct me if my eyes are reading wrong. Also, the rear Billet Specialties do fit, but the front require grinding. Bogarts front AND rears (as stated in my original post, since you failed to notice) are the only wheels that currently fit.

I can disagree on alot of things said here.

I know for a Fact many of my customers have purchased my wheels and have seen a Big improvement in ET and 60ft over there stock wheels. i also have a few customers who Got rid of there track only wheels, Went with my Super Heavyweight Overpriced non economy wheels, and went just as fast as they did with there track only wheels. Same Et, Mph and 60ft.

I also see a Safety Concern in Telling someone to Go with an Economy wheel and that it is OK to grind the hell outta your brakes to make that economy wheel work. Then when you decide to go with something better down the road, you need to replace all your calipers due to the Grinding on them.

With the Street Lites the Curve of the Caliper needs to be changed Just a Little bit. I have known some people to not have to grind, to minimal grinding. the grinding is Not severe. the rears Do not require Grinding at all. Billet Specialties looked into making wheels that would fit, yes, the could have a new hoop designed, and weld a Spacer on there wheel and push the center out more for less front lip, But it is not a Good design.

If you are running Drag brakes and want the Lightest wheel Look at the Billet Specialties Comp 5 wheels. the 1pc front is 7.6 lbs, and the 2pc front is 8.4 lbs. The rear 15x10 is 9.11 Lbs. Your looking around 1650 for a set. And there available for shipping now.
