Default nittro NT555R outside temp?

I just purchased some NT555Rs from discounttiredirect and on the packaging it says that due to the way the rubber is made, that they are not made to be in temps under 32F. Whats the deal with that? Anyone wanna chime in? I was hoping to put my wheels in within the next two weeks or so, but I dont want to mmess up my tires due to the cold.(i know its due to cracking, but anyone have any info?)

I have the 555RII's on my vette from last fall, it's in the 30's here and I have been driving it just fine.

Maybe someone else might chime in, might be something to the compound

Wow that's news to me. I bought some back in 07 and they didnt say anything about that. I have operated mine in as cold as 14 degrees with no issues.

If that is true, what a crock!

that sucks. cuz the area where i am now gets below those temps. even though i rarely ever drive my car, as much as i would like to run nittos, i start thinking if its really worth it. the car never sees the track, and im not trying to set records.

that's crazy, makes me not want to buy these tires again. yeh they were awsome at the track, but geez it's gotten in the - digits here and when it's a nice day I have been driving it...?

sounds like if you do that you could be in some danger driving on them...?

This warning is becuse the tires will crack on the sidewalls. My Nittos have cracked all along the sidewall in many spot. Be careful with them in the cold themps. THis is a newer warning since Nitto will not warranty tires with these cracks...trust I've tried without luck to get mine replaced.

So according to that warning, not only are you not supposed to use them in sub-freezing temps, but you aren't supposed to even store them in those temps either?

and the way I read it, you have to keep the pressure down to store, then let them warm up to at least 68 degrees before driving on them...?

I drive to and from the track and I live in N Indiana, as much fun as I had in this tire at Mid OH, I think I am gonna have to go to something else.

Are any other drag radials like this or just Nitto? Wondering if it could be the same for MT ETs?

Same crap with me. I have been complaining to the same place that this information needs/must be revealed to the consumer prior to purchase. I spend a lot of time lurking on here and I didn't know about it. Part of me wants to pitch a fit and return them but I probably will just suck it up.

It was 21 here this morning and my car is not really a DD so it will sit in these temps.
Here is the email I am working with if you want it.

So why when you are compariing tires is it not listed? I would say this is some key decision making information here.
