Default Help with Pro Stars

I'm wanting to put some 15" Weld Prostars on my 2001 SS. What backspacing and sizes will I need to get? Am I going to need spacers and longer studs? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Oh yeah, if anyone has a picture of Prostars on a red camaro I would really appreciate it.

for the rears i depends on what size you need.for a 10 inch wide wheel i'd probable go with a 7.5 inch back spacing and for a 8 inch wheel i'd go with a 5.5 inch backspacing. for the fronts i'd go 15X3.5 that way you won't have to grind very much on the caliper.

I run 15x10's in the back with 7.5" backspacing, and 15x3.5's in the front, I run extended studs in the back, thats because my car is fairly fast, running a 5/16th's spacer, LOTS of grinding involved with the calipers in the rear to make it fit, none in the front w/the spacer...

can you use a 5/16" space on the rear with the 15x8 (5.5" bs) to prevent grinding?

i'm not sure to tell you the truth. i don't care for spacers very much, more of a chance for the wheel to come off. i won't even work on cars with spacers for liability reasons.

Wont the lugnuts go through the wheel? Don't really understand why you need longer studs.

I have 15x10 Pro Stars in back, no spacers, a lot of grinding. 7.5 backspacing.

NHRA rules require the longer studs....the stud must be nside the hex portion not less then the width of hex deep, or some crazy size. The load is not very well distributed without longer studs.

BIGBOS...what stud you run up front? When I mount my skinnies, 15x3 or 4, I have a hard time getting the lugs started since the ARP stud sits even with the hub using a 3/16th spacer! I need a longer long stud!

15*8 with 5.5bs or 15*10 with 7.5 bs... both have a 2.5" offset and will require the same amount of grinding.. i reccomend using 5/16 spacer for each.

if you are running fast enough to need longer studs.. then you COULD use a thicker spacer and not grind at all.. but i dont reccomend that.

some people dont have to grind the fronts at all with a 5/15 spacer on a 15*3.5

centerlines have less backspacing (more offset) and will not be flush with the fender.. if you like that look, they don't need grinding..

this is how a car looks with 2.5" offset wheels and 5/16 spacers. (my car)
