Stripping Powder Coating Wheels?
I have a few questions for those who have stripped wheels before or repainted wheels.
I recently scored a set of 18" OEM Z06 wheels and the bonehead powder coated them black..now I'm a fan of black wheels and all but since my car is black, I dont like the black on black look.
Anyhow, I was thinking of trying to get them to look like the machined face Z06 wheels, but it looks like too much work.
So I think it's going to be easier to just re paint them with some argent silver, I really like the original color anyway!
Ok..Here's the questions.
If I use gasket remover will it work? Will it get me down to the bare metal or just down to the original OEM paint?
Where can I find Argent Silver or Gray that looks similar to the OEM color?
Any tips or advice welcomed!
Thanks!
Sure the front wheel alone clear with no spacer, but you have less than 5/16" to work with, the minute you add and compensate for the mounted tire you have to add a spacer.
The rear NoPE... no spacer no CLear.. Well without mods!!!!!
The rear bumpstops are the real issue, aside from that nothing BFH and panhard adjustments can cure the issue.
I will end up running a 3/16" spacer front and rear to be on the safe side.
I will do a final test fit with tires mounted and update everyone as needed. Thanks!~
