tire size question for anyone? Can anyone tell me if a 275/40/17 will work on a 17x8 wheel? Why or why not? Would really appreciate the help from anyone and everyone.

www.tirerack.com has all the specifications on their web site for you to answer your own question.
But to answer: No it will not fit. Narrowest wheel for a 275/40R17 is 9", ideal wheel is 9.5"
The perfect wheel for your wheel in question is a 245/45R17.
