Default Tallest tire for the front

Hi Guys,

I have an '02 Formula, currently with the 17x9 WS6 wheels and 275/40/17 tires on all 4 corners. I would like to go to taller tires on all 4 corners, then add some lowering springs. Basically, I would like to improve the fitment of the tire to the fender opening, without setting the car too much lower to the ground.

I'm wondering what the practical limit for diameter and width is on the front. I like the 275's in the front right now. I was thinking of 275/40/18 in the front (26.6") or maybe 285/40/18 (27.0") at the front. The tire diameter now is 25.4". I would then follow up with some 1" lowering springs (I like the Hotchkiss springs).

What does anyone think?

A 265/40/18 is 26.35" tall, that's as tall as I would go up front. If you got 18 x 10s you could go with 295/35/18s (26.13")without a problem.
