Can anyone answer this ? about Nittos
Im trading a buddy of mine some 10 spokes for his zr1s, which are 9 inches in the front and 11 in the rear. I would love to run some 315s on the rear, but i really dont want to do the BFH mod as I just bought this car and its super mint. I have been researching and I cannot find a really clear answer. My question is would i be able to run a set of Nitto 555r Drag radials on the rear (section width is 12.1 as opposed to sumitomos which is 12.6) without doing any modification? My car is a 2000 SS with stock ride height.

I run a 305/35/18 Nitto 555R on a 10.5" wheel with a 56mm offset (my combo is taller and more narrow) on the back and it didn't work for me -- even with a 1/4 inch spacer. The bumpstops needed clearancing and the sides rubbed. I purchased a 1.25" hub-centric spacer/adapter and that took care of the problem for me -- no BFH.
Do you know the offset on the ZR1's you're looking at?

I run the 17x11's in the back with 315 Nittos, only thing we had to do after my 9" install was grind the bump stops back a little, also put in an adjustable PH Rod. Before the rear install, I think I fit them back there just fine. Bump stop grinding might have to be done, but that's different for every car.

No sledge hammering here. The bump stops were done cause it wasn't a tire clearance issue as more of a rim clearance issue. Nitto DR's tend to be around an actual 295 to 300 tread size, so they're a bit smaller than the claim.
