What are the dangers/drawbacks, if any, with purchasing new 2006 production tires? I ask because tire rack has some tires on sale closeout cost of 69 dollars each but I was hesitant to purchase since they are 2006 production. I would be purchasing these as new fronts for my trans am.

I had a set of those tires, and they worked well. I liked them. The only drawback that I can see is that if you hit some debris, or a pothole, and destroy one before they're BOTH worn out, is you won't be able to match it up.

Yes, they're 3 years old, but they still should be OK for another couple of years without any problem.
