Default Heat Cycling - Is it worth it?

For drag radials - is it good to have them heat cycled? I have a friend who had his Nitto's heat cycled, and he swears they've lasted longer. It's only a couple bucks more correct? Opinions please!

I would advise against it. This lessens the amount of heat cycles left in the tires, making them not stick as well. The reason they last longer are because they have hardened and are not soft anymore, defeating the purpose of the drag radial....if you're concerned about tread life, don't buy as set of DR's. Go buy a long life tire. But you will be spinning all over the place if you do. But you will be doin the same thing w/ a set of heat cycled DR's.

If you want a tire that hooks get a set of FRESH DR's (low shelf time) that have been manufactured very recently, this will ensure that you hook good.

Ill start off by saying I am biased as Heat Cycling is a service we sell as a business. However, I have been on drag radials for nearly 5 years non stop. BFG & Nitto. I started heat cycling my tires approz 2years ago and have noticed increased life...without loss of grip. I still pull 1.5 60s. I just get an extra 1500-2000 miles on em. Id do it...regardless if I have to pay for it. You can also do home heatcycling...not quite as effective, and kinda rough on the tires, but will give you a similar end result. The machine is much safer and more effective.

If heatcycling makes a R compound tire harder...why would every avid auto-xer and roadracer heat cycle their race tires??
