Default Will they fit?

I'm looking at getting a set of DR's for my Z28 and I like the stock 16's that are on the car, but a 255 is not big enough IMO so I was looking at a 295/50/16 MT ET Street Radial II or the M&H 275/55/16...now there both about 28 inches tall and should..maby fit on a 8 inch wide rim but I'm wondering about rubbing issues on the inner fenderwell. Rolling the lip on the outside is no big deal.

So will I have much trouble with either of these two tires fitting in the fenderwells?

The car is a '01 Camaro Z28

You will probably need to get adj lower control arms to make sure the wheel is centered in the wheel well. Mine rubbed the bumper and had a lot of room on the front with stock suspension

I was looking to do the same thing. One thing I've noticed people complaining about was the fact that ABS SOMETIMES appears to stop working with radically different sized tires.

I was wondering if this ABS behavior is the rule or the exception?

Yes, adjustable LCAs are a must for them to be centered and have maximum clearance. And yes, a tire larger than 26" will set off your ABS INOP light.

Ok good to know, so Adj LCA's and Adj panhar rod to have everything in the middle. As far as the ABS goes mine hasn't worked in years so no big deal there.
