Tires Flat-Spotted / Out Of Round???
My car has been sitting unmoved in the garage for about 7 months. About 5 months ago I put on a brand-new set of wheels and tires.
The front of the car has been raised several times and the wheels rotated, but the rears have not moved at all.
Today I finally got the car back together and took it out for a brief spin.
When I get to about 5mph, I can feel the rear end going up and down slightly, with a slight side-to-side rocking. At speeds above 5mph and the up-down-side-side motion smooths out a bit. The max speed I took it to was 15mph, at which point I could still feel something wrong.
I parked the car, jacked up the rear, started the car, put it in gear, and watched the rear tires. Both rims moved in a smooth motion, but I could clearly see the tires were not. The tires appeared to be about 1/4" out of round...
What do you think? Are these brand-new, expen$ive tires worthless or will some street miles smooth things out?
