02 ws6 wheels
02 ws6 wheels I have read most of the posts concerning whether or not the factory 02 ws6 polished wheels are clear coated or not. Can anyone say for a fact they are or are not and how they know. My body man says that the clear coat will not stick to the aluminum for long and that he had to re-do a set for this reason and would not guarentee another set. I wanted to try it on a set.

'01.5 - '02 WS6 wheels ARE clearcoated, without a doubt. There is no question. They are a polished aluminum wheel, with factory clear coating. Don't waste your time screwing around with them. Store them somewhere and buy another set. Where did you read that they were not clearcoated? I'm certain it wasn't here... this is common knowledge. Don't use metal polish on the wheels, soap and water will do wonders. Treat them like you would the paint on your TA.

yes they are, i have sanded one of my thrashed 02 ws6 rims, to get to the bare metal, and polished it.
The factory clear on them sucks, and is nowhere near as good as the 98-01 rims.
THe older rims are much shinier.

You'll be all set with soap and water. I have a dedicated hand mit for the wheels which I wash before every use. That's pretty much the best way to do it.
