Anybody know if I was to strip the paint off my painted firehwks if they would be smooth polishable aluminum under the paint or would they be rough??

well, first off, give the board more than a few hours to respond, it's the weekend, and folks like go out late, and sleep in. Secondly, it might depend on how much labor you wanna put into them. I don't think the wheels will be super smooth, as they would most likely just be in a "as cast" type state under the paint, i doubt that there was any sanding/prep done before the manufacturer primed/painted the wheels. But polishing is an option. I would rather do a nice transparent powdercoat maybe like black chrome, which will look sweet with the metallic imperfections showing through. Seen it on a candy blue transparent powdercoat i had done to some cylinder heads, looked amazing.
