if you're dead set on doing something different, be the first to try it. it's your car, who cares what others think. You said you're on a budget, paint your wheels with simple rim paint to get an idea of what you like and once you find the color that YOU like, go get them powdercoated to make the finish more durable. just my opinion. The black 5th gen with the gold rims looked sick though, it matches the chevy emblem really well which brings me to my next point. have some sort of theme or central idea going with your car. if it is all black, the color of the wheel won't matter too much, but will be up to your preference. if you have red emblems, then a red theme might go well. just play around with spray paint cans and see what you like and find unique. post pictures when you're done!

Sweet GTA! I love those cars, I used to have gunmetal '88 L98 GTA. I really miss that thing.

I agree with you on the wheels, those GTA wheels look killer, although they're a PITA to clean. I went through a lot of toothbrushes with those wheels! And I looked into getting aftermarket wheels for it, I wanted 17's, but I just could never find any that I thought fit the car better than the stockers.

With those gold emblems you have to have the gold centers!

Have any more pics of the bronze mags wheels on that car? That's the original setup I wanted.

Thanks, man! I used to have a 1988 GTA too. Mine was Flame Red (burgundy) with Beechwood colored interior. I've always felt that whenever you swap out the gold factory wheels for something else, you pretty much take away almost everything there is about a GTA that makes it so special.

can't go wrong with gold/bronze on black...

Personally it is all about attitude and stance...you can pull off anything if the whole package is well thought out.

I was thinking of painting my stock 16`s bright orange or something , and using them just to have some fun burning rubber ..
I do however like the gold centers on the porsche and the biemer , might do that on my 19`s

White can look good on f-bodies. Gold with a polished or chrome lip can look good on black cars if done right. Other than that, it's probably going to look terrible.
