will these tires hook?

For a great cornering tire that hooks better than any other street tire I know of look at Nitto NT05's. Just don't expect a lot of life out of them because they are the softest non DR tire I have seen... A couple vette guys I know run them and I will be getting a set after my christmas bills are paid off....
Edit:

i used them for a while on my SS and was not pleased.
i ran 615s on other cars as well as rt215s (predecessor to rt615). i ran so many sets of those damn tires because they were awesome on my lighter cars (2,000lb and 2,300lb). once i threw them on my camaro, it was a completely different experience. my riken raptors almost gripped just as well (cheap tires that came with the car when i bought it).
after a few bolt-ons and a 3600 stall, i might as well have been driving on ice. cornering was not what i had expected, but somewhat decent. however, they would not hook up at all at over 3/4 throttle until part way into 2nd gear. on my bolt-on, stalled car, i get by on R compounds (currently R888). i have to roll into the throttle, but i can actually be at full throttle before i'm through an intersection as opposed to waiting until i'm a block+ down the road with the RT615s.
so yeah, your 500rwhp will need drag radials or some other R compound tire depending on what you're up to on the street.
