255/50/16s rubbing.
I'm in the process of replacing the rims with the proper Trans Am rims, but am wondering why such a minor change in tire size is causing this. The Vette rims/tires do seem to, I dunno, stick out more than the factory rims on my old 99 Z28 did. The tires were on the car when I got it too. I do not know if the rims are the 8.5 or 9.5 versions or even how to easily figure that one out, if it even matters.
Another question... The fronts are in need of replacement. If they are going to rub, I would just like to go back to the factory 245/50/16 size. Would those fit on the C4 rims if I don't find factory rims to my liking before I get the new tires? I know the C4s originally came with 255s and the sidewalls on the Goodyear/Sumitomos are almost flush with the side of the rim as it is.
front 16"x8.5" 32mm (6.0" backspacing)
rear 16"x9.5" 38mm (6.7" backspacing)
if they are the 8.5" wheels I believe a 245 will be ok... on the 9.5" you will be stretched.
