Not too sure about how wide you can go in the front, but I currently run 18x10.5 in the rear with 315 tires. In the front I'm running 17x9.5 with 275's. No rubbing exists but by looking at it, 275 looks a bit wide for my tastes, but it's still looks great.

Are you A4 or M6? If you're manual, you'll want to be careful putting wider tires on the rear because your car will pull harder and put more stress on the ever fragile 10 bolt. Be careful
Yeah if your planning on going that big have fun with a stock rear end..
