Default Too wide?

What is the widest tire that you can fit in the front and rear of a stock trans am? Im getting some 17 by 9.5 c6 z06 rims and i just dont know what size of tires i should get that would safely fit.

I personally wouldn't go over a 275 for the front. Many guys here are running a 315 tire on the rear with just a little pounding (BFH'n) on the inner fender well and rolling the fender lip up for clearance. If you're going with 17 x 9.5 wheels all the way around, keep it simple and go with 275 or 285-40-17 tires.

I think on stock height with an 11 inch wheel you can fit 315's without a bfh mod. This seems to be the consensus on tech. With it lowered minor fender rolling.. I want to lower mine a little bit but only after I get my 315's for the rear..

Yeah, but I don't really want to have to do any mods for them to fit, so im thinking just 275's all around. What all around tires would yall suggest?

do you daily drive your car? is rain, snow, etc. an issue? the type of tire you use is pretty dependent on the type of driving you do. MT et streets seem to give the best grip for dry conditions only, and nitto's seem to be a pretty good all around tire if rain is an issue. i was on a budget when i bought my ripken raptors and i have actually been surprised with the overall performance they give me. granted at the track the best 60' i could get was a 2.02.....give everyone more information as to what your budget is, and type of driving you do and the tech community will surely chime in. good luck!

It is a DD and rain is somewhat an issue and snow is never an issue. I dont take the car the drag, but I do get on it on the streets from time to time.

a lot of people don't suggest running the MT et streets or the nitto nt05r on the highway when it rains, but either of those will give you the most traction (straightline) and then i would run the nitto 555's in the front. or you can run the nt05r's all the way around, but the 555's wear less

Did everything fit okay? I always thought 18's would be to big, but those look great!

Yea they fit perfect, didnt rub at all. the front are 17's and the back are 18. and im actually selling my c6 z06 wheels because i just recently bought some torq thrusters and those are 17x9.5 with 275 40 in the front and 17x11 315 40 in the back. and they dont rub ether. and im on stock height right now but hopfully ill be lowering it soon.

i'm planning on running 17x9.5 all the way around. i read everyone running 275's on that rim but see that 285's fit. is there a reason not to run 285's? again planning on same size tire and rim on all 4

IMO the 285/40/17 looks goofy on the front of a F body
