Default Rear tire width question

Vehicle is a 99 WS6. I'm thinking about picking up a set of C6 wheels, 18X9.5 in the front and 19X10.5 in the back and I'd like to get some 315's in the back. Right now I've got 17X9.5 TT II's all the way around and I run 315's in the back with NO problem and no spacers or anything. Am I going to need a spacer or what? I'm kinda uneducated about how this works, but I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing before I pull the trigger on this deal.

The reason you're not running into problems with the 315's is because the current rim is too small for them. When you get it on to a proper sized tires, you're more likely (still not garaunteed) to have problems.

I have 17x11's and 315s on my car and have only minor clearance issues (bumptops).

Not sure about 19's, id assume there will probably be issues.

Makes sense. What if I threw some 295's on the back? Still pretty wide, but do you think I'd still have clearence issues?

I have 295s on an 18x11, and I had a few clearance issues (bump stops, inner wheel wells, and rolled the fenders) - that's because I'm lowered, and the wheel offset of my CCW SP500s tucks them in pretty far.

So a lot will depend on how low you want to go and the wheel offset. If you don't mind the goofy looking tires hanging out beyond the fenders look, you won't have a problem. You'll also probably never need to roll your fenders if your car sits like a 4x4, you never take corners hard, or a combination of the two.

I might end up lowering it 1 inch around one of these days, but I haven't figure it out yet. And my tires stick out a little bit now, but they don't go past the fender lip, so it looks good.

What I would suggest would be to pick whatever you want weather it be the wheels, tires or both, bolt everything up and see what you need from there. Since I have been on here and from what I've seen, it also depends on the car cause I have heard stories where some didn't have any problems at all and some sounded like they have to redo the whole rear end just for it to fit.

Buy a Wheelright, measure, and KNOW what is going to fit...or not fit.

Some people don't mind spacers...I can't stand them, personally. To each, his own.
