Default Powder Coated vs Chrome - Durability?

Which is more durable and easier to maintain? Powder coated or chrome wheels?

Very happy with my powder coated wheels. Just wipe clean and very durable finish. If u do damage the coating somehow it is much cheaper to repowder coat than to rechrome.

Depends on the quality of the coating. But, in general, the Chrome will be more durable just by the very nature of the material. Chrome is very hard because it's...well, metal. Powder coating is a polymer. Now, cheap, poorly applied chrome will flake and not last as long as a quality power coat.

My chrome flaked like there was no tomorrow as soon as it was exposed to road salts. I even rinsed them off ASAP but the wheels flaked anyway.

I'll be powder coating mine soon.

So powder coating would be better in the salt since you could possibly put multiple layers of wax on them for protection?
