sidewall cracks in MT DRs
Can any of you get a pic of your DOT codes on the tires that are cracking on the sidewall? Just because you bought them new in 2010 and haven't used them til now, does not mean they were manufactured in 2010.. alot of times they may be a few years old, or older, which would explain the cracking since the soft rubber turns hard over the years.
Other than that, from what I see my other guess would be you guys are running too low of air pressure on the street..25-30 is fine. Maybe 20 psi is even fine, but I would never drive highway speeds with 10-15 psi in them. You will eat the sidewall as if your driving on a semi flat tire. Since they are low profile you wont notice the adverse effects until you air them back up to the correct air pressure.
I have ran MT bias plys that I purchased used, Nitto radials that I purchased used, and MT radials I purchased new. I've never had a problem with any of my tires cracking, but I take good care of them and make sure I run the correct air pressure depending on what Im using the tires for, and I'm also in the tire business so it helps I know what to look for.
