Default What is the proper backspacing for drag wheels ?

I need to order drag lite wheels as soon as possible
I need 15 X 10 in the rear and 15 X 4 in the front
I know that the wheel pattern is 5 X 4.75 but
I want to know what s the proper backspacing for the 2001 firebird
I think it is 7.5 or 6.5 in the rear
and what about the center bore diameter ?
thanks in advance

I don't know about the 6.5 with a 15x10. It might clear with some major cussing. LOL

You need 7.5 in the rear with a 15X10... Even then with some rims (pro stars drag lites) you will still need to grind the calipers and most likely run a spacer with stock ls1 calipers.

275s should be an issue.. You *might* have to roll the fenders but I *highly* doubt it, especially on a TA. You shouldn't need LCAs either but I'm not sure on that.

Those are the ones you would need.

If you have the acorn style open end lug nuts, they should work.

Are you buying fronts as well?

I know I have seen a couple sets of Pro Stars for sale lately for some decent prices.

Factory lug nuts will NOT work. Weld wheels use a shank style lug nut, not a acorn style.

Are your brakes stock? If so I'd look into the RTS wheels from Weld. They're only a few bucks more than the prostars and will fit over your brakes without grinding them down like you would have to with these Prostar wheels.

O wow.. Staying up all night FTL. LOL Sorry about the misinformation OP.

I was also going to recommend some slightly more expensive options. I bought my race stars brand new with brand new tires for 950$ shipped.

Well I bought mine new/used. A guy bought them, mounted them, demounted them, sold them to me.

Just search the classifieds... My buddy bought a brand new in the box still set, never had a tire mounted, for 900$ shipped to him. Came with lugs and all.

I'm assuming those are similar to how the pro stars fit.
With minor modification (grinding calipers/spacers) those should bolt right up and go, you shouldn't even need aftermarket LCAs.

You can pick lugs up at local parts store.

Are you replacing the studs or running factory studs?

You can buy them from the parts store or online.
Because with non fbody specific rims you would have to grind the caliper so much to make them fit it would be unsafe. Some people believe grinding it at all makes it unsafe so they go with a rim a bit more pricey to avoid this.

I'm not sure on spacer thickness so I won't say, I think that will be a tad too thick however, especially with stock length studs.

A lot of people do little-no grinding on the fronts and run "XXX" size spacer and everything clears. With my spacers (when I had pro stars) I had to grind a little and then they fit.

The rears is a MUST to do both.
