Tire Age Question

Hey guys, I couldnt pass up a great deal on a pair of Michelin PS2 tires sized 315/30r18. I noticed the manufacturer date on them is 1808, which I believe means they were made on the 18th week of 2008. I thought I heard somewhere the Michelin warrants their tires for 6 years and that 6 years is the oldest you would want to go on tires. Im just wondering if this is true or not. Are these considered old tires? They look awesome, not dry at all or a single crack,brand spanking new stickers and all. Just want to know if im ok, if so I got at minimum 2 years of driving life in them, though I dont expect them to last that long.

Yes they are fine, 6 years is the industry limit for selling tires. At sears we would check tires quarterly, if any were older than 6 we sent them back.

It the tires aren't showing any wear from being in the weather they should be fine. Some shops won't install tires over two years old though (Wal-mart).
