I did quite a bit of research on new tires for my car the past few days. I ended up going with Continental Extreme Contact DW. They got great reviews on all of the sites that I visited and are Tirerack's no 2 recommendation for tires in this size - tied with Michelin Pilot Sport - which are twice the price. From all the reviews that I read they seem to be a good balance between everyday driveability (in the Summer of course) and performance.
The one complaint that I did see - and it wasn't that common - was that the tires had soft wide walls and were a little soft going into tight corners at speed. That didn't concern me because I don't beat on my cars anymore - I'm way too old for that now...
