15x5 Weld RTS fitment on F-Body with 98-02 front brakes As the title states, I have questions pertaining to the fitment of 15x5 Weld RTS wheels on a 4th generation F-Body with 98-02 front brakes. I want the 15x5 because I drive my car on the street and also to/from the track. My intention is to find a 15x5 wheel that will: fit without grinding brake calipers and tuck inside the top of the wheel well. I understand a member here runs 15x5 Racestar Dragstar wheels that fit that criteria, and that may end up being an option for me, but I'd really prefer to have Welds. I'm looking at Weld's online fitment guide. http://weldracing.com/press/wp-conte...e-May-2013.pdf It says a 15x4 low pad wheel with 2.5" backspacing (71LP-504B25A) will fit with a 1/4" spacer. Therefore, it would stand to reason that a 15x5 with 2.5" backspacing (71LP-505B25A) would also fit with a 1/4" spacer, but it would stick out 1" farther. Does anyone run these, and if so, how well do they tuck in, if at all? Weld doesn't list this wheel in their F-Body fitment guide, but they do list a medium pad 15x5 wheel with 2.5" backspacing (71MP-505B25A) in their catalog. http://weldracing.com/aitdownloadabl...itfile_id/309/ That might be an even better option, especially if it would fit without a spacer. Does anyone run these, if so, is it with or without a spacer, and/or was any caliper grinding involved? I did a search and didn't really find anything; any and all input is greatly appreciated. |

LT1s are fourth gens... A face lift and a motor doesn't change the generation, a complete body style change does. I don't have anything to add to the thread, I have ran a 15x6 street star but it was on the ugly lt1 brakes. |

Yeah fuck those third gen LT1 cars...oh wait. :gtfo: This is the same wing nut with a negative trader rating whose still trying to sell parts on this site. Anyway, back to our regular scheduled programming..... I'll probably just end up going with the 15x5 RaceStars in front because I know they'll fit without me having to grind through my brake calipers :| .....unless someone chimes in before I get the wild hair to buy wheels..... |
What did you end up getting? 15x5 race stars or rts??? |

Tough decision. Wheels are a critical part to any build. I'll keep checking back to see your decision. |
Any update? Im in the process of trying to get some street/track ready wheels too. |
I haven't bought anything yet and I've basically put my car away for the winter. |
Dang man. Well what are you running on the rear? |

I went ahead and got the RaceStars. Front: RS92-550244 DP (15x5, 2.375" BS) Rear: RS92-510254 DP (15x10, 7.25" BS) I'll post an update and pictures when I get around to installing them. |
Good thing man. I forgot about this thread. I tried the 15x5 rts and they fit but stuck out out under the fender. I ordered a 15x5 but they sent the 15x5.3 but I don't know if that would have made a difference. Racestars should tuck/ or be flush with the fender with the tire mounted. At least in that one thread it was. |

That's interesting. Those Welds are supposed to be a 2.5" BS, right? I've seen two people with the 15x5 RaceStars; both fit with no spacers/grinding, and the wheels didn't stick out past the fender. |
5 Attachment(s) Chalk these up as a great fit with no spacers or caliper grinding. The parts I used are as follows: Wheel Studs: Moroso 46245; Press-In, 12mm x 1.5 in. x 3.250 in. Long, .509 in. Diameter Knurl http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mor-46245 Lug Nuts: McGard 63002; Shank with Washer, 12mm x 1.50 RH, Open End, Chrome Plated Steel http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mcg-63002 Front Wheels: RaceStar RS92-550244 DP (15x5, 2.375" BS) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rce-92-550244dp Front Tires: Cooper CS5 Ultra Touring 185/65R15 88H http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...5&rd=15&cs=185 Rear Wheels: RaceStar RS92-510254 DP (15x10, 7.25" BS) http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rce-92-510254dp Rear Tires: Mickey Thompson ET Drag Slicks 3053S 26x10-15 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3053s I didn't weigh the rear wheel/tire setup, but the fronts are 17 pounds lighter per wheel/tire than the stock 16x8 wheels with 245/50R16 tires. I'll let the pictures do the talking from here. |
Perfect. |
Do the rears fit with out grinding or spacers? |
Will the backspacing on these rear wheels allow for a 28" tire? |
