Default Going to try the BFG G Force SS A/S

Well my Goodyear GS-D3 tires are finally getting too old and I have to say goodbye to the finest tire I have ever owned. No more Goodyears available in the 'stock' 16" size so I figured I would get some quality Michelins. Now they stopped making the 16" in my size.
I went with the BFG G-Force Super Sport all-season since I had those originally on my GT, and they were fine. I'm hoping though that they won't be too different than the Goodyears on my T/A. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Just info for the few owners that still use the original stock 16" (I know there aren't many of you left) the total price 'out the door' including tax, mounting, Hunter balance, etc.. was $654 plus I'm getting a $50 rebate back from BFG bringing the total down to $604.

I PM'ed a member asking about these and they were quite happy with them. When I replace mine in the spring (stock snowflakes, whoopee), I will be going with these as well. Let us know how you like them when you get them.

I put these on my '05 GTO as I DD'd it all-year when we lived in DC. I only mention where we lived because we didn't get huge accumulations of snow; however, it would be icy and slushy. I had absolutely no complaints with them. They rode nice, provided great traction in the wet/ice/slush, and didn't do too bad in the dry. Good choice if you need to stick with all-seasons.

I run Riken Raptor ZR 245/50/16 from Summitracing and they are a pretty good all season. I think I had mine all bought for $500 and mounted/balanced for another $100. not bad if you ask me. If you want some more tire selection check onlinetires dot com they have the most tires available in stock 245/50/16 sizing.

I've used them in both the 245/16 and the 275/17 sizes. They are good in the dry and wet when new. At 50% tread life wet performance is degraded. Beyond that, they just don't do well at all. Expect tread life of about 25k.

They aren't as good in snow as the older KDWS, which had a chunkier tread pattern. My biggest complaint with them, as with all G-force tires, is that the stiff sidewall makes for a very harsh ride. It just gets worse as the tires age; noise increases significantly too. When they are quite worn, trammeling becomes terrible and they become very slippery in cold conditions. But, except for the ride, they are great when they're fresh.

Thanks RevGTO. These may be just fine then. The Goodyears also had a very firm sidewall which is what I actually prefer. 25k miles is also OK because I don't drive the T/A that much, and the tires will need to be replaced due to age by then. I actually have tread left on these GSD3's but the age is creeping up there along with the rubber getting a bit hard. We are taking a small trip to FL this winter and older tires with only 25% tread left is not the way to go. No tire is ever the same as new over the long term but these Goodyears and some Michelin Pilot Sports I had on another car were darn close. Time will tell with these BFG's.

OK, finally an update after driving with them in the rain. That's always important besides just dry roads.
Taking into consideration that any 'new' tire will seem to be fine at first, I am pleased with the handling in both dry and wet. The ride is comfortable and quiet. I'm sure the tire won't be quite as 'sticky' as the GS-D3 summer tire but that's OK for my use. It's a good looking tire and the sidewalls definitely are AA A and say "MADE IN USA". $604 will be my final cost after rebate plus a $10 tip to the tire installer. He treats my chrome rims with TLC.
Here are two of the stickers from the tires. You'll need to click on them a few times to enlarge and read.

BFG Gforce Sport AS are excellent all season tires. Not quite as much grip as a summer tire but better tread life and they work in light snow and cold weather.

I'm agreeing with you. It is a fine tire in the cold so far but I can feel how the grip won't match the GS-D3. It's a trade-off, but one I personally can deal with. Thanks!
