Replace 10 year old tires?
I forgot to mention that the tires on there were H rated Bridgestones that the previous owner installed, not Z-rated tires. It was worth the price to get that old rubber off of the car.
No, they are the original KDW design from BF Goodrich, prior to the current KDW2. I don't particularly like the "flame" pattern that the modern KDW2 uses, and I'm also not willing to put any of the asian made tires on this car (I try to buy American whenever possible), so my tire options are limited for the 275/40/17 size. I guess I'd probably do the BFG Sport Comp 2 at this point, since it's closer in appearance to the old KDW and still very affordable.[/QUOTE]
I am in the same spot as you are. I love the KDW and can't find them anywhere. I even emailed BFGoodrich and asked then why. All they tried to do is sell me on the comp 2s. If I could find four original KDWs I would still buy them today. I am thinking of going with the Comp 2s or the Nitto nt05.
It'll likely be a few more years before I consider tire replacement, but I imagine I'll have to go with the Comp 2s at that point. KDW had the perfect blend of appearance and performance; no idea why they had to mess with a good thing.
