Default Drag

Ok I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place on decide what tire to go with. First off the car is a 2000 formula M6 with a moser 9 and 4:11 gears. In the next week I will be adding VRX5 cam, PRC 2.5 ls6 heads, LS6 intake and a nitrous outlet plate kit. Currently running 315/35-17 NT05Rs on the back and they are just not enough tire. I'm eventually going to be going with a 15x10 in the back, but I'm not sure when that's going to happen. So until then I need something that can hold me over until then. Car will see some drag strip action, but mostly street fun in Mexico.

Iv narrowed it down to 3

275/40-17 ET street: seems a little short, but I've had good luck with et streets in the past.

275/50-17 M&H Racemaster never used a set

295/45-17 Mickey 2s, I've had a set and wasn't very happy with them. They were old so that probably had something to do with it.

Any input would be appreciated.

You're never going to be happy either as long as you keep putting a radial on that car with the M6. You need these.

Yeah but how would those do for just driving? The track is an hour away, and I go to several events and outings that are 2+hours away, how would they drive with a regular tire up front?

I've taken a hour each way trips on mine before, they just dont last as long when you do. Unfortunately in this day and age there is still not a tire that serves all duties. Either be able to drive everywhere and not hook, or hook good and not drive everywhere. Just depends which one is more important to you. If you're already buying the tires, I'd buy a set of ET Streets (bias ply slick version) in 15" and save up an extra 400 for a set of 15x10 Weld wheels that way you can just put the business tires on whenever you're ready to get down.

Car will handle like **** and sway all over the place. I do not suggest a bias ply rear with a wide radial in the front.

What about the Hoosier 315/17 radial? Hoosier DR is about as close as you can get to a slick. There's a guy in another thread that pulled a 1.4 60' with a 6 speed on them.
