Default What brand of front skinnies are you using.....

I just bought 18 x 5 rims from RaceStar Industries for my 2011 GS but now have a quandry of what tire to use. These tires will be for drag racing, but must be DOT approved to drive to and from the drag strip. I want a 26" tall tire, but as narrow as possible for a 5" rim. If any of you have a 5" rim on your cars, what tires did you use (brand, size..etc..etc)?

I run the M&H radials on my 17x4.5s. They are a lot heavier than the bias plys I used to use.

They show a 26" tall 18 front runner too.

Over the weekend I may have discovered a "new" complication in this quest of putting skinnies on the front of my GS. The first set of 18x5 Racestar rims did not fit as they expected, so they sent another set out (these people are great to work with as I did not even buy the rims directly from them but a local speed shop) that do in fact clear the calipers....BUT.!!! The But is they push the rim so far to the outside that it looks like I will not have clearance to the fender when the tires are on. The OEM tires have only 1" clearance to the rear of the fender opening, but are inset a decent amount. The rims that fit the GS (clear calipers) are only 3/4" from the outer fender lip instead of the almost 1 1/2" of the OEM tires. Using some measurements that I think are correct, the 26" MT or M&H tires will hit the rear edge of the fender opening when turning by at least 1/4". You must keep in mind the OEM tires are only 25.6" diameter and if the aftermarket tires were the same, then they would clear the rear edge, but I'm still concerned about the vertical clearance on bumps as it's so close to the outer lip.
