Trouble with wheels fitting on rear end
The problem is, the wheels won't fit my rear end. They fit the front just fine, but will not go over the axel. It seems the center hole of the wheel is too small. This doesn't make any sense to me, as the rear end is the same as far as i can tell. I didn't think axel shafts changed at all. Am i wrong?
I'm going to hit the axel shaft with a wire brush on a drill and see if that helps. I don't want to grind on the wheel. If that's what it will take, I'd rather just swap the tires onto my original rims.
I'm at work, and once it slows down in gonna bring in the wheels and check them with a micrometer and see what's up.
Anyone got any ideas? Are the axel shafts different? The shop broke one wheel stud and stripped 3 others putting the wheels on. So right now, the front has the z28 rims with good tires, and the back had the original TA rims with dry rotted and squared tires.
Hit me with ideas before i take a grinder to the wheels.
But, now i gotta replace 5 wheel studs another broke when taking the old wheel off. Dammit.
It's dark now, so in the morning I'll try tackling this. I keep reading different things about the studs. Some say i HAVE to remove the axle shafts, some say i don't. I think i might, as i have traction control AND ABS. thought it was just abs, but the low trac light came on when one if the dry rotted tires blew out.
So, hopefully i can get the studs off without removing the axel shafts.
