Default SS 10 Spoke Wheel backspacing

I emailed SLP for some info on the OEM 10 spoke Camaro SS wheels and he told me that the backspacing was 7". That is excessive isnt it? If it is indeed a 17x9, I thought that a 7" backspcing would be a 63.5mm offset. If it is a 17x9.5 (not sure which width it is), I thought that a 7" backspacing would would be a 57.15mm offset. Both of those values are out of the range given in the sticky at the top of the page? Did the employee mis-speak, did I miss-calculate something here?

My calculation example:
9"(width) - 7"(backspacing)=2"
4.5"(half of wheel width)-2"=2.5" offset = 63.5mm

I am happy that he said they only weigh 20.5 lb a piece. Why cant the aftermarket companies make simple wheels that light that dont cost an arm and a leg?

Thanks,
Bill

The wheels are 7" bs with a 50 mm offset. Backspace and offset although related are vitually impossible to determine without all the wheel info.

When a wheel is quoted as 9" wide, the dimention is of of the in INSIDE of the mounting bead, so the wheel is actually wider.

Offset is from the centerline of the wheel.
